Director, Project Management
About the Role:
Work under the VP of Operations as they oversee the Project Management Department. They are accountable for the overall quality of work, ensuring goals are met and projects are delivered on time and on budget. The Director would oversee and guide the project management team and provide expertise in Digital Project management. The Director advises project managers, teams, and departments on best practices, scope, and schedules while building strong relationships along the way. They will be responsible for the day-to-day management and smooth operation of various digital projects, including site launches, online tools, web applications and advertising campaigns as well as physical product launches and other business objectives.
The ideal candidate is a tech-savvy professional with an in-depth understanding of how technology can help us achieve our business goals. You should be methodical and have excellent time management skills. They partner extensively with department heads, optimizing processes and ensuring operational quality control is in place.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
Manage a Project Management department providing day-to-day guidance and oversight
Develop direct reports (2-3) and project management team, ensuring the department keeps pace with growing demand and trends. While the Director has 2-3 direct reports he/she works with direct reports to:
Build a successful project management department
Define effective processes for unified project management approach.
Manage and train staff and delegates to build an efficient, successful team
Ensures that the project management team utilizes a flexible project management methodology that adheres to established processes, yet remains open to optimized ways of getting the work done
Establish and mentor leadership within the Project Management team, identifying growth areas, moderating conflicts, and managing performance
Scope of Work: accountable for reviewing all SOW’s and ensuring Project Manager is a part of the scope of work process, partnering with various departments.
Trains, mentors and coaches Project Management team on all areas of the business: Scope of work development, estimate entry and creation, burn reports, understanding forecasts and timing relationships
Partners with other teams to develop standard operating best practices, templates repeatable process flows
Process improvement: Proactively identifies opportunities to adjust processes for efficiencies
Quality Control: Structures and leads project status reviews; leads cross-team post-completion review
Expert and champion in workflow/project management tools and platform
Develop support documentation including risk logs and requirement specifications
Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed
Become a collaborative leader throughout the organization
Manage and lead project teams in the pursuit of project objectives
Maintain general understanding of company systems, processes, and products
Partner with various teams to understand current processes, opportunities for improvement, and then suggest implementation options to address
Prepare and track Department and Personal KPIs and present to leadership
Monitor metrics to identify trends or opportunities where cost savings/cost
